March 2003 when the Australian band was inducted into the Rock Hall of Fame. The band was finally inducted after being in the muscial industry for over 30 years although tt wasn't much of a surprise for the Australian band since they had been invited and declined in earlier years. Malcolm Young states clearly in the passage, "We've been around 30 years, y'know? So me and Angus certainly aren't too impressed with it all. But we'll do it because we don't want to be (jerks)." The band was inducted by ex Aerosmith member, Steven Tyler. AC/DC members say that even though Bon Scott was dead, he still accompanied them in their spirit adn he would be inducted into the Rock Hall of Fame along with the band. If the band had been inducted earlier would they have had a higher influence in rock music throughout their career?

AC/DC was inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame in 1988. ARIA stands for Australian Recording Industry Association. The ARIA has certain rules that have to be met in order to be inducted. Some of these include having 20 years of having started in the musical industry and having a cultural impact in Australia or in the world. The year after the ARIA was created, AC/DC was nominated and inducted into the awards. AC/DC was nominated with the best pop/rock band. The bands induction into the ARIA Hall of Fame may have been what caused the band to begin getting noticed worldwide and this may have been what influenced the badn to get nominated for several awards in the following years. If ARIA hadn't nominated and inducted AC/DC would they have still been the major influenec in the rock industry?

According to an article posted on the internet, the Australian rock band, AC/DC, has been honored in Spain, by giving the band a name of a street. On March 20th, 2000, Angus and Malcolm Young both went to Spain in order to witness the unveiling of the street being named after the band. The street was called "Calle de AC/DC" which means "AC/DC street." This occured in Leganes, a city near Madrid, and the idea of naming the street after the band was given by the mayor, Jose Perez Raiz. After the sign was introduced to the public, it was stolen several times, thus causing the city to have to sell replicas of it. AC/DC has been a huge impact all around the world, that they deserved to have the recognition that they acquired. They have outsold numerous concerts around the world, and they have been given the title that corresponds to their great success. What may have caused the mayor, Jose Perez Raiz, to want to name the street after the band ?

According to an interview with the former band members of AC/DC, there is lots that goes into the concerts. The band tries to always have a sense of excitement when performing so that they are able to transmit that excitement to their audience as well. They try to incorporate some humor into their concerts to add to the environment. One major factor to the great success of the band is that they don't care if people think that their music is simple, "All the great music is simple"(Angus Young). Even if someone where to say that their music is all the same, Angus replies by saying that, "it's like making a cake. The recipe is always the same but you always get them, and until you can expand on it, i'll leave it that way." The band seems to always try and preserve the energy with which they started the band, because it doesn't matter where in the world they are, during concerts AC/DC rocks out like they always have. The band has maintained its structure even after the changes throughout the ages. With these changes come the new lead singer Bon Scott, and there were some changes as well with the line up such as drummer and bassisst. Throughout the years AC/DC has still maintained itslef in the rankings for being the top rock band of all ages, is it possible that in the upcoming years AC/DC will continue to have that same excitement and humor as they've had in the long history of the band?

One article found online, "AC/DC Win First Grammy Award" is abuot hos AC/DC finally recieved recognition for being one of the best rock bands. The band had been nominated for a grammy on several occassions throughought the history of AC/DC but on January 31, 2010 they finally succeeded in obtaining one. The grammy award was for "Best Hard Rock Performance of the Year." some of the nominees from the same group included: Metallica and Alice in Chains. That same day, AC/DC was nominated for "Best Rock Album of the Year" and unfortunately Green Day took the grammy. Even though AC/DC has not won many titles, they still make their mark in history as an oustanding rock band. Had AC/DC been highly recognized earlier in their career, would they have received moe nominations and more awards throughout their career?

An article that appeared on Guitar World magazine focused on Angus Youngs response to an interview that was done on 1991. The interviewer, Jeff Gilbert, asked Angus of the recent performances that he had done, and that why is it that he used the same guitar, some of the same sound, and why Angus would never finger pick. Yet, the response that came to this questions was simple, the audience loved the originality of the band. Angus tells the interviewer about the basic requirements for an ACDC song, which include: "It's got to have a good rhythm. It's gotta rock. That's the first requirement. I also like the songs to be, for my own preference, uptempo. If the song's slower, perhaps a bit moody, it has to have something extra. And we like it to be a song -- not just a collection of riffs. I think it has to flow and be very natural. Most songs these days seem like excuses to put a riff around." The interviewer asks Angus why he doesnt finger fick and the response was simple, "There's enough people out there already doing it. So I figure, hey, while they're doing that, I'll do this." Being able to as a band compose such great songs and have the relationship with each other as ACDC has, I believe is what helped the band to succeed the most throughout the years on their journey to become one of the greatest rock bands in history.

According to an internet article on AC/DC, they are the number one selling hard rock band in the world. In May 2003, Malcolm Young accepted the Ted Albert Award for Outstanding Service to Australian Music. Then the song "Money Talks" ranked in the top 23 of US Billboard charts: their highest charting single. In February 2008, a life-sized statue of Bon Scott. In January 2010, ACDC was awarded their first Grammy for "Best Hard Rock Performance." Along with that Grammy, the band was nominated for Best Rock Album of the year. The badn began to grow as a whole and thus, the band was able to make more concerts and travel throughout the world to become widely known. Had it not been for the perseverance of the band members, AC/DC would have never left Australia and they would have remained a local band without the praisal that they deserve.

AC/DC was interviewed in London, England in the year 1976. The interviewer begins by asking band members Bon Scott and Angus Young if they can answer some questions for him. They are asked several questions but there os one question that realy stands out, which is the one where the interviewer asks AC/DC about the British audience. There were major influences in music like the Beatles, and the Rolling Stones, and how these band all broke up. Yet, Bon Scott answers that they're better. He goes on to say that he gives the audience what they desire, the "show, and the dream." The band would seem to have a unique sense of togetherness since most of the bands songs were made in hotel rooms when they are traveling from one place to another. This band had what most bands lacked back in the early ages of rock music, they had their uniqueness, they were always together like a family, and most of all they knew how to work with each other. But the question for this week, what would have been the fate of the band if they had been like other bands in the early years of rock? Would they have ended up together as one of the best rock bands of all ages?

"AC/DC Maximum Rock n Roll" is a book based on AC/DC's great history, from the start of Angus and Malcolm Young playing guitar by themselves, to the addition of lead vocalist Bon Scott, to the tragic event of his death, and the rise of AC/DC with the new lead singer Brian Johnson. This book contains several interviews that the band gave throughout the years that they played. The band was always very strong, not physical strength but in mentality. " ‘The boys — Malcolm and Angus and Bon — would come off the stage because some idiot had thrown a bottle or was abusing Bon, and we were at the side of the stage and they’ve gone straight off the stage into it. They’re not the tallest guys in the world, they’re not the best-built guys in the world, but I tell you what, don’t upset them. You wouldn’t think there would be very much fight in them but . . .’ " The book contains details on the albums and the story of how many songs came about, as well as what inspired some of the lyrics. AC/DC had a clear future when they began to make noise with the fact that several of their albums were controversial or they made a scandal, because it called for attention from the audience. Having their ups and their downs they alwasy kept their heads in high and looked forward as to what was to come. How would have AC/DC changed, had Bon Scott not died in the eraly years of the history of the band?

In the article "Ageless and Defiant, AC/DC Stays on Top Without Going Digital" found in New York Times, AC/DC is said to have much success doing what they have always done. The author quotes, "The band’s music hasn’t matured much either, to the delight of its fans. AC/DC has always delivered an aggressive take on rock’s raw essentials: slicing guitars, driving rhythms and lyrics about sex, drink and rock ’n’ roll." This means that throughout the time that AC/DC has been an influence to rock music all around the world, people still see the genuiness of the style that AC/DC plays. Although the band has gone through some tough times, like the death of the vocalist Bon Scott, they still managed to have huge success and with the album "Back in Black" the sold "22 million copies in the United States, making it the fourth best-selling album in American history." Yet, with all of this, the author still mentions that AC/DC "gets less attention than many bands it outsells," and thus the question: Why is it that if AC/DC has had huge success, it still has less attention in the media then do others?

An article published on Yell! Magazine titled "Why AC/DC Matters-The Greatest Rock Band Ever?" is based on a book. In the article the author begins by opening his statement and asking questions about this topic of AC/DC, and did they matter? Obviously the author respects and enjoys the music of AC/DC, for he states this in his article. The author makes some quotes that can be found in the book of "Why AC/DC Matters" because they have a powerful effect such as " For the first time in twenty years, a band who had been [mocked] for doing one thing, was championed for just that." It is also mentioned that the author of the book, Anthony Bozza, created several clear points on the bands communication and abilities. In the article, the author ends with a statement where Bozza was saying how he felt "sick" of seeing how AC/DC was envied for their achievements and that AC/DC was for "tasteless masses."
AC/DC has had several memorable moments, and many were started because of their ability to get on stage and do what they do best, to entertain and play rock. This article gives some background to the band, being that they started in the 80's and they had unique type of music that was much of the same. Although they had been looked down on by others, the held their heads high and eventually people began to see who AC/DC really was. The author has strong wording when it comes to expressing himself towards what Bozza wrote about AC/DC, especially since the author of the article took quotes with such powerful meaning from Bozza's book.
How is it that AC/DC, through using the same unique sounds, expand in their legendary musical career?

The reason why I chose this topic is because to me AC/DC has always been an insipiration. The way they compose their songs is simply superb. I also find the way that Malcolm and Angus Young play, to be quite unique. The question to be answered throughout the blog will be "What caused AC/DC's rise to fame in rock music, and soon into the Rock Hall of Fame?"
